Marrying Mozart: Book Discussion with the Symphony Society

The Friends join with the Southwest Florida Symphony Society to discuss Marrying Mozart.
This is the first of two book club selections about composers highlighted in upcoming Masterworks programs by the Southwest Florida Symphony. Mozart will be featured in both the January and February concerts.
Amadeus meets Little Women in this irresistibly delightful historical novel by award-winning author Stephanie Cowell. The year is 1777 and the four Weber sisters, daughters of a musical family , share a crowded, artistic life in a ramshackle house. While their father scrapes by as a music copyist and thier mother secretly draws up a list of prospective suitors in the kitchen, the sisters strugglie with their futures, both marital and musical–until twenty-one-year-old Wolfgang Mozart walks into their lives.

The Southwest Florida Symphony Society offers a rich variety of volunteer opportunities to support the world-class Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. Its activities include fundraising events that range from small, intimate affairs in private homes to large parties and multiple day events, and providing housing for musicians who travel to play with the Southwest Florida Symphony. The Society also conducts music competitions and offer scholarships for talented, young musical artists in our community. The Symphony Society welcomes anyone with an interest in supporting fine music in Southwest Florida.
